Clients told us that this was causing diaper rashes and causing their babies to cry more, which was placing more stress on families. To address this issue, our Parent Educator, Rina Rojas, wrote a letter to Huggies asking for free diapers. One year later, we heard back and the news was big! The National Diaper Bank, a non-profit, was formed and Huggies sponsored The National Diaper Bank by giving 1,000,000 diapers. These diapers will be distributed throughout the country with Lighthouse being selected to receive 100,000 diapers on N! As always, it takes a team and for this momentous occasion The Lincoln Fire Department graciously offered to store the diapers, and Lowe’s graciously offered to provide the needed pallet jack. Lighthouse wants to ensure these diapers go to those families most in need in Placer County. Therefore, Lighthouse will receive requests from local non-profits throughout the community and diapers will be shared with others who serve those most affected by today’s economy. This is a huge gift that will afford many families the opportunity to properly care for their child, prevent health issues, prevent greater stress and help families reduce cost in one area so they can apply additional funds to other areas of basic need such as food, gas, utilities and housing. With resources in the community diminishing, it’s creative ideas such as this that can truly make a difference. Thank you to Huggies, the National Diaper Bank, The Lincoln Fire Department and Lowe’s Home Improvement for making this possible!
